The New CSR is a blog about moving beyond the notion of “doing good” for the sake of doing good and creating a market-based approach to social change.  Social problems like education, the environment and healthcare have become business problems and companies need to realize that social change offers major business opportunities.  As the drivers behind corporate responsibility initiatives have changed, so too are the related strategies, measures and reporting processes.  In this blog we hope to highlight and discuss The New CSR in action.  To structure our thoughts, we will focus our posts on:

Breaking the Strategy Mold- Companies are starting to leverage their core business assets to develop social strategies that make sense for the business. These companies are taking back control of their social agendas and influencing market change.

Sustainable Social Impact- Beyond grant making and annual donations, the next generation of CSR strategies are developing market-driven solutions to social problems including carbon trading and micro-finance – solutions that the business can sustain because they are not just aligned with the business… they are the business.

Next Generation CSR Metrics- With CSR drivers, strategies, and results radically shifting, a new set of metrics is emerging to indicate success. These next generation metrics speak the language of business and translate social value created into business value added.

Reporting that Matters-  The emerging social capital market demands accurate, on-going reporting that clearly communicates social and business impact.

We want this to be a discussion, so please comment on posts and share your thoughts!
